Words related to area of concentration
I fing that students respond well to learning words specifically related to their field. They strive to learn not only to spell the words but to learn the definitions. I find that giving extra-credit for definitions inspires them to write the definitions and be able to verbally repeat them. It makes the students more receptive to the learning strategies set forth by the instructor.

By explaining to the students that they will encounter the terms you are presenting once they reach the career they are in school for motivates them to pay closer attention. I give examples of how the terms are used in their field of study.

Students tend to imitate the vocabulary and sentence structure of their instructor. It is important that we use these vocabulary words constantly and in a variety of ways. Repetition is everything!!!!!
I have not assigned extra credit before but like the idea of do so. Thank you for sharing
