Accomodating students with disabilities

Are there many of these issues at career education ?

Darren
you are quite right about the number of students who have a learning disabilities who don't admit their disability, they dont want their class mates to feel like they are getting special treatment.or they think they can make it thru the class with out using their accomidation plan. then some times they realize that they will need the extra attention, which time it is hard to give them the help they need to be sucessful and get them up to speed. so as i observe the class i try to notice what students are struggling and try to give them a little more attention.

there are alot of students that are embarrassed to admit they have some learing concerns. We get a few that ask for help but there is still alot we dont get to make that connection with them

I believe there are more than we are aware of. I think it is important to be able to identify the need in these students because i feel that extra time is a MUST and a first step in the possibility of the success of these students.

Yes, many of our students have not been successful in traditionl higher education. They have skills and want to be productive, but do not know how to succeed.

Yes, I have several students in my class that require special help in reading assignments, and taking tests. These students can receive help from a professional tutor in our program. We also have students in each class that are tutors to the other students that need help in the class.
