Challenged Learners

I try to use as many real-world examples as possible to illustrate the topic being discussed. Each student has different experiences and using a variety of examples helps every student to find one to which they can relate

Hi Kevin!

I use a lot of visual aids along with demo's when teaching. This way the student can see what it is I'm talking about. By passing examples around the room they get to see and touch the actual lesson. The students get so much more out of the lesson this way other than just looking at picture and hearing me talk.

i can see that being a help, however myself and 2 of my sons are attention deficit, and one is dislexic.it does not matter now but every one has to learn to overcome these things at some point.

English is a complex and beautiful at the same time.i know that because it not my native language. However,it is also an advantage because I can explain in different way how to overcome the complexity of some words to student affected with learning disability. One thing a teacher must always remember and implement,is being patient.

Greetings Hector!

I think that you might talk with your local school system to see what they use with their high school students who have learning disabilities. Also, your local adult education programs who offer English as a second language could certainly be of help. Hope this helps!

Good job!

What kind of materials can be used for students with learning disabilities and from different cultures and backgrounds?
