Teachers must do all they can to help students who want to learn succeed.
I've also used the need to give oral test to my students. But are we we doing them justice? When they have passed all classes and then get out into the work force still not being able to read or write appropriately.
Recognizing the "disability" is key. It's very hard to assist a student if you don't know exactly what is causing them to struggle. There are also legal issues as well. We aren't allowed to "ask" the student if they have a disability. The student has to bring it to our attention first.
I have had many students with learning diabilities. I have students that need to have the oral tests, where it is read to them. If the student doesn't tell me they have a diability it is hard to help. i try to stay open to all my students.
absolutly agree. However any learning disabilities have ever been brought to my attention and Ive been here for 5 yrs
