IEP
Do some career college students come with IEPs?
I did not realized that the IEP only applied until age 21...
Yes some do and some dont. The biggest help for a student is letting them know u are here to assist them. They usually are accostomed to having someone Do it for them. The studen can overcome most issues with time and practice. I also let them knmow that the work place is competative and the student must work on improving themselves.
You are right that IEP's need to be regularly updated. Often once the students leave high school they really don't have help or guidance in updating them so any help we can give is great.

yes they do but one thing I learned is that they have an expiration date along with them. Most of the students that say they have an IEP bring it from high school but it needs to be current.
Our student population is very diverse; ages range from 17-50's, and all ethnic backgrounds, languages and cultures. Our youger students are entering with IEP in-hand or they will reveal they previously had an IEP when/if they begin to struggle in a class and we meet with them about their performance.
We do our best to accomodate IEP recommendations - however, we must uphold the academic standard and rigor of our programs. Students must understand that when they go to sit/take their certification exams (required or recommended in most of our programs) they will not be given special accomodation - with the exception of items under ADA.
