Learning disabilities

I've had students with dyslexia. It's true, they are very helpful in telling you what can help them. With help and personal attention, they seem to perform just as well as my other students.

I agree, have had students with learning disabilities and have made sure to let them know I am very open to talking about how I can assist them in learning. I make sure to use different learning tools in each class so they are more comfortable.

I also had a student with dyslexia ; with more attention and caring , she was able to complete all the curriculum requirements and finished the program. She was given some tutoring time and as you mentioned people with disabilities like this respond well to focused studies.

Thanks,

I know personally also that having the student verbalize what they are learning helps..so visual aids and giving them the time to process the information is helpful

Yes its really helpful when you have other students chipping in to help another student who has a learning disability. Students find others ways to explain things.

Learning disabilities can be tricky. depending on the level of disability it can be very challenging for them when it comes down to getting a job.

Learning disabilities: I find it most helpful in the learning process when students review with other student the lesson of the day. This interaction of peers is most successful in my class room.
