Motivation

Motivation and support as well as more time and attention is essential for the students who has learning disabilities.

yes, I agree the motivation is the best way to improve their skills.

I agree that instructors should be motivators all the time, especially if their are students with
learning disabilities. By being patient, and understanding, shows the students you care for them to be successful.

ramona,
and figuring out how we can be supportive in this mix is a key factor as well.

Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

Having a positive attitude and the support of friends and family or social networks all came out as key elements in maintaining motivation.

Students can feel frustrated at times because of their learning difference so it is important that instructors motivate students by giving them more attention.

Stephen,
yes the more we can encourage them & help them in their growth the better their experience will be.

Dr. Ryan Meers

Well said. Motivation and support for an individual with a learning disability is essential. The support from others is so helpful in letting them know they are not alone and there are people who really do care about their future and success. Once they begin to enjoy success it is a beautiful thing to watch them grow and see their confidence and pride swell.

motivation is the one intangible ....you can not test a student's motivation. There are some indicators but its a very powerful thing that really needs to be tapped into.

When Napoleon said he could have conquered the worl if he had but a more ribbon, he was really speaking to motivation. Motivation can help propel an otherwise sedentart learner to higher hights if given properly.
