Moving through the Room
I applaud the information I learned about moving through the room because I strive to do that myself, and know it works. The students must follow you by moving heads/eyes so it keeps them engaged, training aids can be pointed to, and people especially in the back of the room will not attempt to fall asleep or act up.

Nicole,
yes, this really is a great way to keep them engaged.

I agree - it helps keep the students engaged and focused about the topic.
I often move throughout the room when I present/lecture...its a natural trait. I never gave much thought to its usefulness before this. I naturally like to engage students in a more conversational way and I always felt movement facilitated that. Often times when I first present material I stand at the front of the class and my communication is unidirectional then I tend to move throughout the room when I want input from the students, I will need to balance that. This should be easier now that I understand the importance of floating.
April,
yes I think the benefit of movement is great for both instructors & students.

This is something that has worked for me in the classroom. It also helps me as being the instructor as to keep not only the class engaged in the topic, but to verify that the students are able to see my excitment in the topic.
Scott,
it is interesting to note how just the movement from the instructor helps so much with keeping students engaged.
