learning disability
leaning disability is something that take time to improve or get better at it. the only helpful technique to taking the time to help the student to grow and develop new learning skills.
In my educational experiences I have found that there are several areas that affect students with learning disabilities. I've noticed that they can do the work when applied but I had to build their confidence prior to giving them assignments. A lot of the students have been "crippled" in the sense that they have been constantly reminded of their disability and therefore do not believe that they can be successful because of it.
I agree. I have experience with only 2 students so far with known learning disabilities.
One is extremely motivated to learn and do whatever it takes to succeed.
I still have alot to learn, however, when trying to tutor or accomodate these students.
Zach,
yes and also letting them know that you really do want to help them & so encouraging them to open up.

I have found that many of my students who have disabilities are very much in tune to what needs to be accomplished, but sometimes need a bit more direction to help them get there.
Leo,
and helping them break down complex words & concepts is a great way to help these students.

I agree sometimes we have to take a little extra time and explain in a more basic way, and also always be positive and encouraging
Shuhdi,
and we can really help with this by demonstrating our willingness to help them & be open to their concerns.

Yes , I found that students with learning disability need constant support to overcome the psychological barriers the have .
Brian,
I too have found this to be the case as often they have developed strong study skills & a strong work ethic.

Surprisingly,I have found that some of my best students had some kind of learning disability.
I found with a little patience and understanding, they are willing to put forth the extra effort required to overcome these conditions. Always encourage to never give up. Many have been told that they do not have what it takes to be successful, but they love to prove otherwise.
