I have found this technique to be very useful as a classroom reviewing tool. I divide the room into teams and we play Jeopardy, It allows me know who has mastered the material and is ready to move on. Another benefit is that it really engages the students and as they play off of each other, they learn the value of team work and the competition always stays friendly.

Scott,

Sometimes I use their questions in the tests; this encourages them to do a good job when creating questions.

carolyn,

The best way to stay abreast of anything is to teach it; this is a wonderful strategy used in teaching.

Jennifer,

Anything to help our students retain information.

I will will make teams of 4 people and each team has to go through the course material and come up with 10 questions that can be found from the course. The excersize helps them with reviewing the course material as well as improving the questioning techniques by asking open ended questions that require thought and understanding - avoinding closed questioning because they are too easy to answer.

I like the idea of having a question competition in which they play teacher and think of the best questions to ask on the topic

sounds like a good idea the help them retain information.

Michael,

I also find that teamwork and competitions make the class more enjoyable and the students interactions improve.
