Qutstion types

I've found that open questions require the students to become more engaged with the subject matter. Unlike a closed question which only requires the recall of memorized information, the open question engages the interprative faculties. This stimulation of thought through; deductive reasoning or criticle thinking processes ensures the full engagement in the active learning process.

James,

Good use of questioning in the classroom! have you always incorporated questioning in your classes.

I like to question them openly so they get involved, then I ask them why or how so that I can accurately gauge how much they are learning the material. This works great.

Rosamond,

This is true. I would just check to ensure that the discussion does not take the place of the lecture.

I've found that asking aii types of questions stimulate the students mines ,and everybody can get involved. It can become open classroom discussion where aii can elaborate ,and add to the answer.

Kenny,
