Slow learner response time

trust what you are teaching

I find with slow learners I am reading their actions first before calling on them. Based on a possible attentive look, I will then call on them so they can answer confidently.

I always remind my students that I know how long we have to cover a topic and if our time is not being used well I will redirect us. I try to do that at random times though so no one feels like it is just because of them that I am saying that.

Depending on the the subject I am teaching, I try to provide my slow learners with a longer response time. This is challenging because my fast paced learners seemed to very anixous to answer. Any suggestions?
