gide lines for electrical risk

I always think safty when wiring should be taught befor, during, and after labs. So when there in the field hopefuly they wont forget.

Matthew ,

What specifically about hybrid cars raises the risk so highly?

Ron Hansen, Ed. D.

The hybrid market is expanding and we need to train technicians to fix them. The manufacturers have been stingy as stated but another factor in teaching students about safety is the number of students in a class. A class that is potentially as dangerous is very hard to police with a large number of students to watch. The use of smaller class size or extra lab assistants is a must. The learning experience will be better and more rewarding.

Don,

That is amazing that manufacturers held back safety information. Glad you have it now.

Ron Hansen, Ed. D.

I teach in automotive, where the field of Hybrids is expanding rapidly. Because of the high voltages on these cars we have geared up our safety equipment to meet the needs of the industry and working on expanding the curriculm, especially in the area of safety. In the past the car manufactures have been very tight lipped about the hybrid units, but because of the higher number of cars out there, they are releasing more information to insure public and industry safety.

Automotive repair has always been an industry where someone could get hurt if not properly trained for the lab enviroment, hybrid add the higher possiblity of injury or even death.

Robert,

Safety guidelines certainly should be included in the lesson materials.
