Preparing and planning is key! As a new instructor my preparation time and planning takes a little longer; but I am confident the time will be shorten as I master time management skills, preparations and planning.
I learned the importance of showing up to class early and prepared. I should take the time to reiew and thoroughly understand the topics and materials which I will be covering in order to be technically and professionaly proficient.
I learned through this lesson to develop a good course outline and to think of the core concepts as the trunk of the tree and all the rest of information as the branches. I intend to use this when developing courses and the syllabus.
Make sure to always discuss course objectives as it lays out student expectations for content learning.
setting the tone for the class and students
syllabus or "action plan " helps guide the classroom enviroment to more broad-focused goals of achivments
A syllabus is a contract between the instructor and the students. Therefore, it should be informative, descriptive, and comprehensive as it serves as a guide for the student.
I agree with the chech list method while teaching. There are times that we get so engulfed in our lectures that we forget to cover all the topics for that day.
I liked the analogy of the core concepts as being the trunk of a tree and any additional info is the branches. That way you remember to always bring everything back to the important core concepts.
im struggling with managing my time and adapting to the class. in 3 days will be my first lecture class so i will have over the weekend to prepare my self with the material to be able to be on the same page as the students. this morning i bought a composition book to keep track and notes of things i must do for my self, for class, and reminders of what i need to accomplish for the next day. im juggling different task and responsibilities which im also learning the process of how the school require the paperwork to be filled out. The number one priority is being able to track attendance, class work. assingments, quizes and test but also being able to manage lab setting and practical hands on projects which i need to refresh to correctly give instructions. my number one priority is to not give false or misleading information but being able to guide my students in the right mind frame, and directions that in my experience in the industries has showed me or what i have seen in the past years. One thing i would like to improve is how to involve every student and being able to get every single student to participate and as well as being able to retrieve information that they have learned in the past course by painting a mental picture or helping them connect the dots of how other subjects tide down to the material we are learning.

It's important to be prepared for every class and to be ready for any questions students may have.
By planning and being prepared it enhance the learning enviroment.
I created a course map for one of my classes last year (I was hired right before the semseter began and didn't have time to make a detailed plan for every course) using the ABCD approach, and I loved it. It helped me develop lessons, lecture, assignments, assessments, and discussions. I think that was the most fleshed out course I had and the energy and pace of the course confirmed that more planning beforehand = better success throughout the semester. I want to make detailed course maps for all of my classes over the summer in preparation for Fall 2022.
The ABCD of instruction and the importance of keeping a checklist and/or notepad.
To be successful in any instructional course you have to prep. I've experienced a horrible instructional day because I was not prepared. I was a Sub for an instructor and I hadn't been instructing for months. It was a last-minute call so I had no time to prep. I felt like I was wasting everyone's time. I took the opportunity to get to know the needs of the students. The students didn't know I wasn't prepared but trying to keep my wits about myself was exhausting.
I like the check list idea. In this way I am sure I have covered all the topics I set out to cover. From experience I can give to much information on a topic. But with a plan it helps you to be on track.
Organized and prepared. You also need to understand the material that will be taught.
I'd like to work on a more comprehensive course outline and a syllabus, one that is molded around the objects we'd like the students to achieve.
PREPARE PREPARE PREPARE! Being prepared and on track. I love the idea of the checklist, I use this in my life and at work. A great and simple tool to maintain time managment as well.
