I rather enjoy the adult students. They have more life experiences than the average 18 year old student
Very good points everyone! Adult learning is definitely different compared to high school or elementary. Therefore we have to take a different approach as adults come with experience. Their brains are fully mature and in order for them to learn the material must be meaningful and beneficial. A great approach one can take when it comes to Adult learners is pointing out how a lesson will be useful to them in their career.
Hi Dale,
Good point and one that we need to always remember when we approach the classroom. Our instruction has to be age appropriate and geared to the level we are teaching on.

Hi Rebecca,
As I have never taught in the medical field I'm not sure what some effective strategies might be. I do know that well planned instruction offered in a variety of ways is effective no matter the content. With all the medical folks taking these courses I am sure that you are going to receive a number of suggestions that will give you ideas on how you can motivate your students and help them have fun in the learning process.

I had a teacher in community college that was moonlighting. Her regular job was in high school. There were definitely times when my classmates and I would look at each other and wonder which group she thought she was teaching to.
I have to agree...this part of the course provided some very good information that I found very interesting.
I am interested in helping the students develop positive memories about the education path they have choosen. I teach in the medical field, wiht difficult topics and hugh standards. It is not easy for the students to ballance life and school. I am looking for ways to motivate the students and have some fun.
the course was awesome, very well put. adult learners are amazing in words and in deeds.
Hi Nicole,
