instructors and there skills
When i have a new class(every 3 weeks)i have to remember to introduce my course to them and the new concepts that they will need to max there learning during my course. you must sell yopur course to the students to make sure they stay interested during the complete course.
This is true we start classes every 3 weeks also, another thing i like to do is review the material from the previous week every Monday and talk about what we will cover this week.
I had a different experience with evening students. They are drained out and tired to concentrate on anything going on in the class. Even jokes can't bring smile and response.
When teaching a morning and an evening class that is the same, I often find that the night class (typically adult students that work during the day) are more motivated and dedicated to the learning process and the class seems to progress through the material faster. I have often had to restructure the lesson plans for these situations. Our classes are 12 weeks, so it allows for some latitude in teaching methods. As always, I too, learn something from each class I teach.
David,
I do the same thing for my classes for the reasons you stated. I need to know and reflect on what has been covered, how it went and where I need to go next. Without lesson plans and the reflection notes I wouldn't be as accurate in keeping on target.

losing track of the lesson plans. I have always written daily reflections on my practice so the only problem is when my M-TH morning class goes offtrack and it doesnt parallel the night TTH class likes its supposed to :-)
David,
Right you are. This is a tough schedule to follow. I teach from 4 until 10 pm but I don't have split it between AM and PM like you are doing. What are some of the biggest challenges you face with this schedule?

and running two classes, am and pm, is a challenge too...or MW and TTH classes. Lots more organization than a straight m-th morning classes.
Jack,
This is a constant effort isn't it as a result of the three week starts. It is easy to forget that the new class hasn't heard the introduction since it seems like you just went over it for them.
