memory

short term long term memory extremely important in medicine as well helps us with disease diagnosis.

Yes, it is true; visuals makes everything easier to be remembered

Aaron,
Yes it is. What are some strategies you use to help your students retain information?
Gary

Gary Meers, Ed.D.

some times in a fast paced learning environment itis hard to get the students to retain info

Maurice,
Repetition is a valuable learning tool just as you mention. There are so many fun ways to offer learning via repetition that the students look forward to these sessions.

I help refine my students short term memeory strategies by reviewing the material over and over again!

Kristin,
Right you are and this is something the students need to realize. This is why you have the exercises and activities that you do. They help the students to get the needed information and skill sets burned into their memory so it can be easily retrieved.

I would have to agree for that with my students as well, dental assisting is very hands on and the muscle memory is very important to remember what comes next.

visual and kinesthetic, hands on training works best with my students..muscle memory

Jeffery,
Visual connections to content is a powerful way of getting students to retain content. So the more connections you can make in this way the better.

i always try and give them visual ways to remember things. with my line of work if they can see it they usually remember it better

Edward,
Thank you for this explanation of how you can use different field areas to enhance the learning of your students. I have talked with medical people and they use the concepts of the engine and how it operates to explain how the human body functions. The more we know about how other fields present their content the more options we have to borrow for use in our own content field.

Wright,
How do you help your students refine their short term memory strategies?

Well I'm not to well versed on the medical aspect of short term long term memory, but in the automotive feild everything our automotive processors use is from the theory of the past. Before we had fuel injection and computers controling the conditions of the cars we drove, we as techs had to decide the conditon based on the area we lived. From that experience we were able to adapt to the changes and new technology from sensor testing to electronic outputs. This is great in giving our future techs the insight on where the strategies of the automotive computers came from and allows us to demostrate those effects on current models
