Multiple Intelligences
This for me is the fun part of learning about my students. I think the best way to introduce this into one of my writing classes is to have them tell three different stories about their lives. Two where they have succeeded and one where they have failed.
It is a great way to involve students in ongoing learning process. It surely helps them utilize their knowledge and skills in real life
Darren, I've asked students to write things about themselves, and surprisingly, they write very personal stories. It seems they're more comfortable writing in private than sharing out loud sometimes. Good for shy studets.

That is a great assignment. However my students are very verbal and hands on, so I think I might have each of them tell me a story like that one on one. Of course this will take a bit of organization on my part.

I think this is a great way to engage students. They are using their newly acquired writing skills while getting to tell about their life experiences. This is a win win teaching strategy.
