learning
different ways of learning some visual, logical etc we see this all the time. a lot of students like to see one do one teach one.
Richard,
Yes, he has. Each of us is unique and this is one of the rewards of being an instructor. We get to meet so many students over our careers and each and everyone has something to share with us and we in turn with them. We as learning leaders do impact lives and we never can forget that.

The way we learn is truly amazing. I read how little boys will make car and gun sounds very early. Using there toys as if in battle, while the girls will play house and hold dolls as if a mother. God has truly made us very special.
Brandon,
This approach results in many in-depth discussions that reinforce the content and gives you a clear understanding of what your students know. Plus, they are a lot of fun to conduct.

I like the process here. Not just to give the course content but to have the student show understanding by explaining it and opening the door for discussion amongst other students.
Martha,
This is a student centered learning cycle that helps the students to know only share their knowledge but also demonstrate it. I am sure once your students complete these projects they have a very high retention of the concepts they used to get to the successful completion of their project.

I find that in my studio classes this is how a realize the student is actually learning, they follow the example, complete the project successfully, and explain it to a classmate.
Bob,
Yes it does and as a result you can provide support in a timely manner.

It also helps the instructor understand why a student may stuggle with a certain subject
Melissa,
You make a very key point because as workers we are placed in many different situations and we have to cope with where we are. So even though we have our preferences we need to be able to receive information via other venues.

Yes there multiple ways a student learns and yes all students learn differently. There was a point made in the information we read during this course about students being introduced all the different styles of learning even ones that may not work for them. This really is a great idea because you never know after school what will be used in your work setting.
Albert,
Good observations and input on how students acquire new information and skills. Humans are certainly unique and as a result we instructors need to offer a number of different learning options to them. This way each student can succeed if he or she is willing to put forth the effort.

Learning can be very challenging sometimes for students that strongly lean toward one learning style or another. It can be debilitating for some if they do not see success and reinforcement of the gains they have achieved. I try to provide written verbal and demonstration on a group level and on an individual level. I carefully explain the process using all of these methods. Next i interact with them on a individual basis.carefully looking for body tonal and verbal cues to determine how they wish to learn. it is an invigorating challenge and very rewarding for both the student and the instructor when you connect with the student at their level of learning. Watch closely you will be amazed at the talent and diversity of learning with the students discovery and a ha passionate moment shining through. dont get me wrong their difficult moments when you do not get it you do not connect. But with patience and persistence, close and afar you will make the connection.
Alwyn,
This balanced approach to instructional delivery is important because this way you will have touched upon everyone's learning preference. This will increase the engagement factor a lot.

I think incorporating all the different learning styles is the way to go, because every student learn differently and incorporating the different learning styles will help each and every student in your class.
Learning the various modalities of the cognitive learning process has enhanced my pedagogy.
I agree Wright, our students really learn many different ways although those they are visual learners seem to excel over the others.
