Michael,
This is one of the reasons I like smaller classes. I teach a number of classes that have an enrollment of over 70 and it is tough to get to know each student and share some time with each one. I think the ideal class for my style of teaching is around 15-20 and when I get such a class I really enjoy developing rapport with them.

In a smaller class I find it easer to be flexable. You can go around to each student and build a repore with your students and teach to there strengths. as the classes get bigger your options get reduced do to time and numbers of students.

William,
This is a good strategy to follow as this way you will be touching on all of the different learning preferences of your students at different times throughout the course.

each student has a different way to process info and I use many different approaches to impart knoweledge to them

Sometimes it seems as though some students aren't interested, I will cover a topic, then ask questions concerning what was just covered, then talk about how knowing and understanding what was covered will be positive for their career, that approach seems to draw interest

Angie,
Students like change of pace and variety in in their instruction. You are doing both with your approach and being successful at it. Keep up the great work you are doing because learning is occurring with your students.

I use many strategies I my classes...writing notes on the board, sending questions home and then using for discussions, you tube clips, power point, hands on activities and more. I have found different strategies work with different groups. Using all these different ways has made my teaching better and more efficient.

Scott,
You make a good point. We need to plan our instructional delivery so it reaches the different learning preferences of students. This way we will expand the opportunity for engagement for all students.

Robert,
What are strategies you use to be able to reach all of your students? Thanks for you input on this.

Having many different learning styles in one classroom is a challenge for any instructor. As instructors we must use many different teaching styles in order to reach all students.
