pretest
I like the pretest method. I am going to use this next term.
Ninette,
I use pretesting in all of my classes for the reasons you state. I get a baseline on my current students and from there I can customize my instructional delivery to target them and their learning needs. This gets each class off to a good start and increases student engagement.

I have found it to be very valuable; it gives students a chance to access their own skills. Plus the valuable information the instructor to gain. It can help in many aspects...even teaming up students for success.
That looks like a good method. It will assess the students where they stand and how much more effort needs to be vested on them. Will apply at my next class
Nelida,
These are the reasons that I use pretesting in all of my courses. I want to get a baseline on my students so I can customize my approach based upon their knowledge and needs.

Is a good idea to use pretest because it will give students and instructor an idea where their learning skills and knowledge are at this point. Also allows instructor prepare course according results of the pretest.
Joyce,
I use pretesting in all of my courses so I can baseline them and then do my instructional selection from the results of the pretest. Lets me zero in on the current group of students more accurately.

having a pretest is good keeps up up to date seeing if the students are folling what youve taught
ROBERT,
Sounds like my classroom. We cover a lot of material this way when reviewing plus have a lot of fun doing it.

I use games as part of my chapter pre-test / review. I use jeopardy, who wants to be a millionaire, bingo and weakest link just to name a few. The students enjoy the competition of the games and the games make reviewing fun.
Kathleen,
Isn't that a great feeling as an educator? Seeing that they get it makes all the effort worthwhile as they prepare to take Boards and go into their career.

Pre-testing for state board practical allows me to also witness how the students progressed within the entire program. They get that "Ah Ha" moment when some things are changed from "real world" to "testing", and really believe in themselves for actual testing day.
I use pretest methods for students to learn how to read test results and what modalities to start based on those result,
Kevin,
This is why I use them in my classes. I like having the baseline on them so I can plan my instructional delivery from there.

Pretests not only give you an idea of where students are regarding knowledge, it allows them to understand their strengths and weaknesses.
Kim,
I do to. I like having the baseline on my students as this information helps me in my instructional planning efforts. I can target my instruction more via this information.

i love pretesting. It shows me where my students are and it helps show them the big picture and where they need to be and where they bare going.
IDA,
I use pretesting in my courses so I can create a baseline on my students. This way I know how to do my instructional planning and thus target more content more accurately.

I believe pretesting allows students and the instructor an opportunity to understand where the knowledge base is beginning and clarify and build on that information
Donna,
This has been my experience with pretesting as well. I like having a baseline on the current group of students so I can customize my instruction to more specially meet their learning needs.
