Always learning

I noticed that this online class used different ways to present this course for the different leanering styles of the Instructors.

It definitely does present it in different ways. Eventhough we are teachers we all still have our own way of learning, but the benefit is that we should all know what it is instead of learning what it is.

Lorraine,
This is such an important concept for us to remember. As educators we need to be life long learners in all aspects of our lives. The different ways we learn help us to be more effective and engaging in the classroom.

I completed an intense 4 day training. Each day after the class I was noticing the teaching technique that the instructor used. It followed the structure I had read about. As an instructor I should be able to utilize the different techniques presented in this course. Learning is not for the students alone, instructors should also learn as they teach.

Allen,
It is for sure that teaching is not boring. Also, we get to use our creativity in meeting the needs of new students all the time and get try new things.

I sincerely agree. As instructors, we are constantly monitoring and adjusting to each
student's learning needs.

I have also found that we need to analyze our group of students as the class evolves to adjust our teaching style according to their progress as their need might change.

I agree review and discuss is the key so that we can recite how we each interpert the lesson

Faith,
I always like hearing instructors that see themselves as life long learners. They bring to the classroom energy and enthusiasm because they are always finding new things to share with their students. I can tell you are such a teacher. I wish you much success in your teaching.

I love learning, and then even when I think I know what I have learned, sometimes I find that my learning was not complete. This is good to remember when teaching students - review and discuss is key.

Yes, I agree we are always learning. Once the student is in the learning mode, processing new information becomes easier. Our job is to help the learner achieve that level by issuing the tools.

I agree. I feel that by using different ways to present this course for different learning styles is a benefit to the students. It emphasizes that different students prefer to learn or process information differently. Once we become aware of this fact we can group students by their processing methods. We can prepare lesson that are tailored to our student’s preferences.

I am finding that some methods are easier than others ,but i will continue to try them out , if it works better than what i do then i will use it.

Nicole...how true we are always learning. I really enjoyed the different ways in which this information was presented. As an educator, it forces you to step outside of your comfort zone enabling you to have greater empathy for your students.

Teachers tend to gravitate toward the learning style they are most comfortable with. This was a huge learning curve for me. The first two years of techeing I had to be really cognizant of this and now it happens automatically.

Hi Nicole,
Hopefully this approach will give you some strategies for you to use in your own instructional setting.
