memory ways
I teach med terminology and i use crazy flash cards with the word part on it and ways to remember the meaning. An example brady means slow..so I have a snail picture which respresent slow movement..and his name is brady
DeShaun,
This sounds like a fun and engaging way to get your students into a learning mode. They get to play a game while using their newly acquired knowledge. This is how learning is enhanced.

We use a lot of flash cards. We use video, pictures and hands on. We go over the information on the actual units themselves. We use the "Jeopardy" approach when posing questions. I supply a description((answer) and the students pose the question. We use fill in the blank. I use a lot of action verbs in the reviews. Helps a lot.
Grace,
It is simple and very effective so the more we can help our students use methods like this the more they are going to retain the content.

This appears to be the best teaching devise for terminology for my students as well. It also allows them become creative with amking the flash cards.
I use alot of repetion for Math. Tying to add in in visuals I possibly can.I allow students to use their nots in class but they still have problems finding what they need.
For math I want the students not to memorize but tolearn the basic concepts. If they can learn the concepts then their nots will get them through a problem.
TONIA,
Thank you for sharing these strategies with us. I know other instructors will benefit from them. Sounds like you make your class informative and fun for your students.
