Graphic Organizers…
really useful to help take the stress away from the student. if they are able to follow along with something that is easily understood, it can only be a good thing.
Darci,
Some students are unable to segment content and/or sort out key concepts. Graphic organizers helps them to identify critical concepts and then locate the concepts into the flow of knowledge acquisition. They see part of the picture and then the big picture using graphic organizers. I see them being very effective with students that have not acquired good listening and note taking skills. I also use guided notes to help students follow along and see what is important as we walk through a lesson.

I have not really used a graphic organizer for the students. I have my own personal one and they have the ones that they bring, but I don't feel that works the same. YOu said that they are effective, can you explain how?
Warren,
The do help with focus don't they. This way everyone can be on the same page in terms of content.

without them it is easy to loose the class completely, especially if you have a lengthy afternoon of lecturing ahead…
Warren,
They really do help, don't they? They are valuable supports to walk students through problem solving steps.
