The medium is the message
Critical thinking is very much shaped by the medium by which the message is delivered... as I learned in college, years ago. The medium can limit or distort the information that makes up the message. What are some ways to counteract this reality?
skill is required in any training aspect and lots of patients. some students require more then others.
Vallorie,
Creative studies require this type of critical thinking in order to come up with outcomes that will be perceived as having value. Thinking through choices and options reinforces these outcomes.

I think it is important to be able to think through a project and understand what is going on in the subject matter. In my courses, we have to consider the narratives we deal with, and how we are to apply the structure to the narrative (i.e. video projects)
Donna,
Sounds like you have a special passion for this. Please share some of your CT questions, if possible. Thank you for your contribution.

I enjoyed this part of the course. Critical thinking, delivered material, making the students think for themselves and arive at a solution.
I am adding more questions to throw out at the students this next term.
Donna,
Well said. Different media provide various advantages and constraints on 'the message' being delivered.

Get all the facts. Research the information provided. Don't judge on the message delivered alone
Paula ,
Training in skillful use of the medium can counteract this to some degree. "Netiquette" rules being formally conveyed can have a positive impact. Good question.
