I find it helpful to be aware when attention drifts when asking a question. If they are not achieving this step then they have no chance to analyze anything.

This is a good way to develop sequential thinking on the part of your students. They get to see how reflective thinking can be developed by discussing a part of a situation and then another part until they have gotten all the details as well as arrived at a solution.

I sometimes provide only a few facts in a group questioning setting a without allowing answers/solutions to be shared .and then give up the rest in graduations.i require the students to record the problems,facts,and reasoning for there path to solution.though i have tuned this occasionally, i surely didnt think it up.

Reflective thought is an important step and you are providing an opportunity for the students to think through what has been asked of them and then come up with possible solutions.

When teaching my students I repeat the question twoce so that they can analyze the question before answering. In some case's I allow extra time to answer.
