Problem Solving

It does seem like going through all the steps in this process are time consuming. However, they seem worthwhile as doing the actual steps will help students to develop and indeed, recognize when they are are using problem solving skills.

Anthony,
I hear you loud and clear. There are no instant fixes available as a problem solver. There are band aides that one can use but to truly solve a major problem there must be some reflective thinking that occurs to find the solution.

there are soo many "2 step instant soup" ways of solving problems for young learners today.it is easy for them to mis-identify a problem all together.some may spend more research time looking up solutions than they do evaluating the problem .

JODY,
As they saying goes this is only "putting a band-aide on a serious problem". It make work for a short period of time but the real problem is going to have to be identified and then resolved if success is going to be enjoyed.

I also agree, the quick and easy way usually just fixes a symptom of the problem instead of finding out what the actual cause is.

Ian,
I couldn't agree more. Sometimes the 'quick-n-easy' just can't do the job. ;-]
