All Ages
I have been in my profession for 21 years. I have had my share of all kinds of people to deal with. I feel that everyone needs support in what they want to acheive. With being a instructor, there is alot of different elements to deal with. This first module helped me to understand how to get to know your students and their needs, and the challenges that are going to go with it.
Hi Brian,
What are some effective strategies you have used to get some of the more hesitate students to become involved in class discussions?
Gary
Regardless of the ages of my students, I try to communicate at their level after I have gotten to know where each of them are coming from before entering school. I also try to encourage everyone to be involved with the discussion or the understanding of the topic.
Hi Dan,
Good to hear that you feel better prepared to meet the needs of the different age groups within your classes. I wish you the best in your new career as an educator.
Gary
I will be teaching in an adult trade school and I feel that from this module, I have a better understanding of the needs of the different age groups.
I found out that some is easier to teach younger student,
Hi Timothy,
The strategy of using the diverse ages of your students to your advantage is a good one. You can use the strengths of both to share with each other. This also helps them to work together because they are going to work with all ages once they are in the field.
Gary
As a young instructor i find that being able to relate to the younger students is easier, with the older students i find that they help with keeping the younger students focused.
I am in complete agreement with you. Althought I already knew that all people are to be treated as individuals, it was reaffirming to find the elements outlined so clearly in this first module. I feel that if I continues to embrace those ideals that my instruction with go alot further despite the age gaps within some of my classes.
