Made to back to school
I have found that students, that are younger and right out of high school are being made to enrole in our school by their parents and they do not want to be here.
Hi Owen,
A career choice should be one that is informed, meaningful and realistic. Secondary schools, parents and any other involved stakeholders need to help students to gain enough life experiences that they can make a career choice that gives them all three aspects.

It is amazing the number of students who don't really know what they want to do but are forced into a trade or career path without any knowledge of how much they will or will not enjoy it. Parents need to sometimes back up and let their kids gain some of the world experiences mentioned in this section.
Hi Bob,
A status assessment of incoming students is done by many schools to help with the placement process. By creating a baseline for each student then career counseling can be offered to assist in proper placement for students in career training programs.

The school should do an entry level exam to see if they qualifiy to enter in a tech/vocal school.
right on, students don't have the right attitude when they really don't won't to be there
Hi Bruce,
Not uncommon. This is where you as the instructor can offer some good career counseling about how your course can help them develop in their career area or even encourage them to look at other career options. Many students within this age range do not have a clear idea of what they really want to do and through career exploration they can identify what their true career goals should be.
