understanding student differences
I found this information very helpful I teach a derverse class age ranges 18-59 and different cultural backrounds. Understanding these differences helps me to be a better teacher

Good way to support the mother. Your help in making her comfortable in the course as well as giving her encouragement will help her as well as her daughter to see how you are there to help them be successful.

I have a mother and daughter in the same class. For the most part they seem to be on about the same level. Occasionally mom falls a little behind so it helps to lend some extra encouragement along with acknowledging some of the hardships she is working through to be there.
Hi, Nancy. I teach at three colleges/universities online and in-seat and have students who are as young as high schoolers taking a comp class to those older than me with grandchildren. I love the variety, and each age group adds a new dimension and interest to the subjects.
