Age

How do you balance an adult with years of expierence that dominate the class vs 18 year olds who think they know everything and dominate the class, without offending them?

I have students of all ages in my classes. It helps to have them work together in groups because not only are they able to bond over what they are learning that day, they are also able to learn about one another's life experiences and relate that to their own lives.

Hi Bill,
I like the way you have blended the different generations of learners you have in your class. They are learning from each other while developing respect for what each group brings to the classroom.
This is good preparation for when they are in the workforce.

I try to give the younger student and the older student seperate times to show off what they feel they are good at in skills partaining to the course. This way the student is validated and the older/younger student has an opportunity to learn from the other as well as getting a taste of what it is to teach another and have control of the subject and class respectively.

work with both young and older students, The younger students seem too like working side by side with the older students. They seem to learn faster,They like it when the older students tell them about the mistakes they made. It seems to help the young students, they are more careful when they take something apart or put something together. Bill Lachman.

Hi LeTisha,
I put them together in work groups and assign a project. I have found that this is a great way for them to learn how to work with others as well as be engaged in the learning process.
