There are all different kinds of students characteristics, Me as an Instructor, I see this everyday, Students act on how they feel, and what they know and dont know, when I see this happening in my class, I manage to see the student effect of their learning and I ask them, " what can I do to make it easier for them ". I work with the student until they feel comfortable. Sometime students uses frustration and anger as their characteristics.

Chastity,
Adult learners to have different perspectives when they come into class. By following your approach you are getting them settled into the course and seeing how they can be successful. The more they feel appreciated the more engaged they become and their self confidence grows from there.

I find that adult learners in the career college setting do have more "issues" to contend with than traditional college students. Their outside influences spill over into the classroom setting. When you allow your adult learners to talk about their frustrations and verbalize their worries, you can gain more trust and thereby gain more control of the classroom. Instead of having a student explode in your classroom over a seemingly insignificant issue, you provide a way for them to let it out and then you will have a more neutral and positive learning environment.

Olmarys,
You are providing essential support to your students based upon their individual needs. This is so important for student retention. They know they will be successful if they will put forth the necessary effort as a result of your support.
