Adult Learning

I find that what will work for some adults in the classroom will not always transfer to the lab setting. If several styles of learning are used, more people can be reached.

Stephanie,
So true and so important to learner success. This is one of the rewards of teaching. When you find a way to engage a learner and you see the success that results this is one of the greatest feelings that goes with being a professional educator.

Teaching each student as a individual is extremely important. Not all adult learners are the same and age does play a big role. We have to remember to touch all types of learners and be sensitive to their needs

Lillian,
One of the great things about being an instructor is that we get to work with such diverse learning groups. This keeps us focused on our teaching because we want to be able to reach each student each day.

You are right. Since each person is an individual
I feel that learning will be on an Individual basis. So, what each person brings to the lab will be individual as well. Some people will no doubt need more hands on. Some folks may not need as much technical help as others. Older people may need more assistance with newer things and technology than a younger person.
