Student retention
As teachers, we must be very patient and tolerant to people in all walks of life. We are educators who lead by example both in our careers and our personal lives. I have always learned to never judge a book by it's cover. And that everyone in life has a story. If we are kind enough to listen and interpret before we didactically try to instruct, our students have a better chance at success.
I always try to interview my students right away to determine a high risk situation based on small chit chat conversations and specific questions. this helps me target necessary students for motivation or extra help
Benigno,
I like the way you approach your teaching. This is a kind and supportive way to engage students of all backgrounds and experiences in the learning process.

Claudia,
Like your example. You are so right in terms of there needing to be something at the end of the line that will make the students to want to take the learning bait.
