Disabilities
I feel that it is very important to have ramps and a modified area for learning. That will aid people with diabilities.
Carol,
I love hearing stories like this. This is why we are educators. Think of the impact that you had on the life of this young man and how that impact will influence him for years to come. Thanks for sharing this story with us.

I just wanted to share a recent example of a student that told me he was in a special class in high school and all he did was answer the phone at the HS front desk. He did get his diploma. Every test in the beginning he would just sign his name and hand it in. So I began trying different things. I am by no means a special needs teacher but have some common sense. We tried reading to him and finally covering up all the writing but 1 line at a time. That worked. Every test after that he would come to the glass on my door and show an A! on the exam. Still gives me goose bumps. BEST example of an adult succeeding when he never thought he could.
Scott,
I agree with your comment and support the efforts of instructors as they work with students that have disabilities. There are many ways of providing support to students with disabilities that will enable them to be successful in their programs, we instructors just have to look for those ways.

I also believe that just because someone has a disability doesn't stop them from learning so the more help that they can get will help them to succee.d
Sonya,
Yes, it will and as a result you will be helping your students to be more comfortable in the learning setting.
