Teens and Motivation

I like the lesson about those students right out of High School, and that peer impact, more than academic impact, has a bigger role for them in motivation.

This makes it all the more important to praise publically and criticize privately, lest I shame them in front of their peers, and de-motivate them to come to class.

I would say this is what I try to do in all cases, and it makes sense, but the lesson really highlighted it for me regarding the teen student.

Paul,
Great to hear of the value you got from the lesson. This is how professional development becomes a part of your total instructional development. I wish you continued teaching success.
