The key with students that don't want the knowledge is giving them value to it. Use your passion for the trade to show them why it is valuable, relavent information for them.
Students appreciates when the instructors shows that they are intrested in the student learning.During lectures its the job of the instructor to watch the students reaction to the subject presented.
Keeping students focused is the biggest challenge an instructor can face. Group activities and special recognition can keep students focused on their goal.

Keeping focus is a must,To bring someone back to speed he needs to be at, making sure they don't fall behind. dealing with the students that want the knowledge is not a problem.
