Student focus
I am intensely interested in this topic. I have tried in all the years I have taught to make absolutely certain--inasmuch as I can--that the students know they are the reason I am there, and how privileged I am to be in the classroom with them. They offer me more than I can ever teach them, and I learn so much from them that I look forward to what they offer each and every class period.
I always find it difficult to teach something that I have lost interest in. So, If my interest starts to wane, I find a new facet to research and teach myself. When I find something unique and under investigation, it reinforces in me the importance of the topic and gives me a revitalized ability to teach again.
I also try to instill this in my students, and encourage them to always ask questions. There may not be answers today, but they may be the next scientist to answer that very question.
Hi Jean,
Great attitude. Don't ever lose your excitement for teaching and the contributions you are making in the lives of your students.
