I Go Blank

Knowing most student learning style will enable instructor ability to help a student.

Involvement and participation go hand in hand. If students are engaged in the subject matter then retention of the material comes quickly!

It's a great feeling as an instructor when you can identify someones learning style, adapt to reach this student and see the light bulb go off in their head. It's as if they're saying to you, where have you been my entire learning life.
This must be a newer concept because as a student myself in the past my classes were treated as one big group. Maybe it was the schools I attended too but my point being that it makes a huge difference and makes teaching more rewarding too.

Good point. I find that many students are current with the topics of cmputers. I try to bring in each persons expertise in this area.

In addition to knowing their learning style, asking them frequently throughout the term about the current topics helps both parties to learn about each other. The students will learn to expect involvement and participation.

It is important to be able to read your students so that you know what teaching method will work best with each individual. It is similar to motivation people to work... with some people you can simply ask for a favor and they will be happy to perform the task. With others, that won't work as effectively and it is necessary to be firm and order that person to perform the task. Being able to know what buttons to push with each individual is the key to successful motivation.
