Rapport
I strongly believe that you should know where your student is coming from in life. It gives you the opportunity to understand them and why they have chosen the career feild. This builds a rapport with the student and establishes trust and confidence in you as a instructor. You as the instructor are interested in them and are excited about their choice. It does contribute to the human factor and the student will see that you really do want to see them suceed in their career.
The human factor seems to be just the thing to keep me focused and that helps me to keep them interested in the class and learning
I agree. Getting to know (somewhat) of your students background helps understand some beliefs and values. Some good some bad, hoping good will come out of it. ha
i Agree, we have class where we spend a good amount of time getting to know the students so that we can focus on what direction their future career may go.
I whole hardily believe in having good rapport with all of my students. Not only do they trust me and know that the information I dispense is designed to help them in their careers. I constantly have students current and past that ask me for my opinion in their career path in regards to opportunities and roadblocks. I feel that this has been built based on my respect for them as individuals.
Hi Christopher,
Right you are. In addition this effort enables you to establish rapport with the students and that is critical for maximum learning to occur.
Gary
Establishing rapport with the students is critical to the learning process. The more they trust you and know you understand their viewpoints and then complement their efforts the more successful you are as an instructor.
Hi Stacey,
This is such a critical part of being and effective instructor. By knowing your students you are able to better target the support they need to keep them moving toward their career goals.
