Staying Motivated
I really think it is very inportant for instructors to stay excided and motivated about teaching, if we as instructors lose our zeal and excitment our students will lose their and that defeats what we are trying to do. Yes sometimes we do get worn out but we have to refocus and power ourselves back up to their goals.
Students can tell if the instructor lacks motivation. It starts with enjoying the topic and the idea of instructing. It is also important to review the course plan for the day fairly close to class time and to add in alternative ideas if needed. That gives the instructor a chance to motivate themselves to add something to the traditional plan.
I agree! one of the best ways to get motivated is by attending an event for CEA! Tehy are amazing! I come out ready to take on the world after their yearly convention!
Hi Matt,
Thanks for sharing this resource with us. Sounds like a great book. I am going to get a copy of it.

I found a GREAT book on this...its called "Staying fired up without burning out" great read for all professions!
Hi Lyana,
So true. You get a return on the attitude you send out so instructors need to always project that positive image even when it is tough to do.
Gary
Staying motivated and positive also makes our job easier for us. No one likes be to be in a negative environment so the more positive and upbeat it is, the better everyone feels.
I agree. Despite the situations that may arise we as instructors must let the students see that we are excited and motivated.
i agree. If we don't stay motivated, we will burn ourselves out and the students
Hi Susan,
So true. So we need to model the behavior and dedication we expect from our students so they will have an ongoing form of measurement of expectations.
Gary
I totally agree. We can't the old adage "Do I say not as I do. Students will see through that faster than anything else. If you are not happy, they know it, just as you the instructor knows when they aren't up to par.
