Recharging your Battery

I have been in the teaching field for 3 years, and I feel that I have yet to have to recharge my battery; however I think it's due to the everchanging material I use in the classroom. Teaching English, I have the opportunity to bring in new material to get the points across. What other methods do you find helpful?

3 week classes can be a challenge. So little time to recognize that you may need to do things different for this class and little time to do it in. I try to remember or I have a list of things I have done in the past to be ready to change.

MANOJ,
Yes, it does rub off. If you don't bring excitement to the classroom it isn't going to happen. So be excited and enjoy the opportunity to share your knowledge and expertise.

Exactly the same happens with me on some days. But mostly I found that as long as I am able to remain energetic it does rub off in the end.

I concur, sometimes it is just the make-up of the class that zaps your energy. I have some classes that are like dragging a horse through granite! Yet others, that energize me that I feel like I'm a power plant!

It's a 2 way street, I try to keep those that "drain" me on a full energy charge and they do test my creativity.

I feel if I had more resources in order to get new things to try in my field of teaching; I could revitalize the some of the same things but in a different and exciting way.

I need a recharging for myself.

I get a new batch of students every 3 weeks. So that helps to keep my batteries charged, but sometimes I get a tough are lethargic class and thats when it can be hard. I don't like to see low test scores when I know I've covered the material very well. Thats when I feel I need to recharge and focus on keeping things fun to keep the students involved.

Nathan,
Some other things that can keep you charged up is to select a unit in the course and try something new with it. Deliver it in a new way, have a different assignment anything that is new to you. This way you aren't for sure of the outcome and it increases your excitement as to how it will turn out.
