Knowing when to change your teaching strategy is very important
Not knowing that your approach is not helpful to the students learning process is negative to you as the instructor (student loses trust) and negative to the student, because they have lost interest (does not gain the knowledge and skills they should).
Denise,
Good point and good example of how instructors need to be flexible in their abilities to find what fix is need for that learning situation.

I had that situation arise once, where students needed the "old" way of teaching - the flip chart. They seemed to understand the material better that way. So, if something is not working, you need to change - find a better way of communicating the material.
I work as hard understanding the learning style of different generations as I do presenting the material sometimes.
Grace,
For sure. This is part of our professional obligation. We need to be prepared to teach the latest content each and every time we enter the classroom. We are impacting the lives of students so we need to know we are doing it with the essential required knowledge.

WE must always keep our material updated and interesting!!
True and you can also incorperate many different ways of teaching because not all student learn the same.
i agree, if you are set in your ways, and maybe your ways are not helping the students to understand the material, it will be a good idea to enforce other ideas that may not only help the instructor but the main important people(the students)
