I agree because student need help seeing that what they are learning applies to real life in a new career and not just another class. Sort of an "dose of reality" that is shared via stories or links to the field.

Good point and this is why you need to always be the learning leader. It is up to you to control and direct the stories from the students in a way they keeps them on subject and control the length of the stories being shared.

I absolutely agree, but you must be careful to manage class carefully, I find students like to tell stories also and if you don't manage the discussion the topic can go by the wayside or the story can become inappropriate.
