It's great when you teach a student on how to do something. Not just showing them how to do it, but to do it right and give them an extra pat on the back for a job well done. So far, all of my students really appriciate the word of encouragement.
it gives you as an instructor a good feeling knowing that the student is retaning and having a positive attitude.
Barbara,
This encouragement is the foundation for success, respect and rapport. This is a win win for everyone in the class.

Yes, and the extra encouagement also helps with establishing a level of trust that often increases commuinication and interaction.
Annette,
I agree about the pat on the back and encouragement. Reinforcement like this helps students to see they are valued and that their instructor is there to help them be successful if they will put forth the effort.

Paul,
Reinforcement and encouragement help to increase student retention and engagement. We need to make sure we are providing both as needed by our students.

Everyone needs a little pat on the back. This not only shows that the information was obtained and can then be applied to the procedure correctly.
