Evaluation

I always ask the students if they learned something by the end of the course. I need to know if the students are happy and that they feel like they are learning something.

Christopher,
Like this approach a lot. You are asking the students to recall how they have invested time and effort to learn something new and valuable to them as they progress in their career development.

One tactic I use is to have the student at the end of a section, list one thing they have learned that they didn't know before the class had started. It's interesting, for I can see trends and deficiencies in my lesson plan. It also gives the student a sense of empowerment.

Wayne,
Checking for understanding is so important for the students. This way you get a quick check on what they have learned and what you need to review as you move to the next concept.

I also ask them if they understand what they learned and go into more if needed.

Karina,
This is how instructional and instructor improvement is brought about. The more feedback the more opportunities to change and improve the course.

Evaluations are very important to the Instructors.
This is a way to find out how the Students are doing in the the program, if they like the subjects and Instructors.
Also, the instructors should take this serious and evaluate what they can do better next time.
Always try to do the best next time.

Peter,
Student feedback is how you improve instruction. Your surveying of your students helps you to know the impact you had on them and their career development.
