Hi Ilene,
You make a good point about maintaining student respect and appropriate boundries with your students. This is where the experience and judgement of a teacher really comes into play. The classroom can be a place where students know they will be taught relevant content, develop saleable skills and enjoy the learning process.
Keep up the good work.

appropriate and fun jokes truly engages the students. However, there is an importance balance between having fun and having the students respect and uphold appropriate boundries.
I like to tell a few jokes from my stand up routine. I have to be careful to pick and appropriate joke though.
Fun is a must, young and old need to feel that fun aspect in order to push themselves through a long continuing education commitment, you owe it to the students to attempt to provide some fun!
Learning must have a fun aspect to it or there will be no enthusiasum for comming to class each day.
Having limited fun in the class romm is very
important help the students a lot to learn.
It refreshes them and keep them interested
and focused to the class.
I agree that fun is very important and needs to be handled in a professional manner. You also need to follow the guidelines outlined in your company standard operating procedures.
I couldn't agree more David. A relaxed atmosphere in class opens the mind and the senses. We are much more likely to embrace learning if we are comfortable and relaxed. Don't forget we need to have fun as instructors too.
