Motivation

I have found it very motivational to have guest speakers and to take students on field trips.

If the subjected is intresting and address what the student is expecting , the student will be highly motivated. The issue then his to find out what the student expected from the class. This can be acheived on the very first day of class.

I get my students motivated by showing a video or two related to the topic. Of course the motorsports buisness always has,for the most part, good technical videos. My students always seem to get pumped up when they see these videos and it makes a great start for me.

How about games like Jepordy, seems as though this works to gett things going. Maybe Guys vs Girls will cause some motivation.

Hai Troy,
To have guest spekers is agood way of creating better interest in the field.

I have found that although guest speakers and field trips are not allowed in our tech school that the best way I have found to motivate the students is the fact that when they are out in lab they will come across something that was just lectured about the other day...now that shows the student how the lecture relates to everyday real life experiences and not only does that motivate them that day....but also the other days in lecture because they have already seen the signifigance of the information I am giving them to their field.
