motivation

Most of the students in school at this time should have some motivation as we speak. But tyhere are always the individuals that are beyoind motivation.

Hi Danielle,
It is a loss every time a student leaves school. We need to keep questioning ourselves so we don't lose our feeling for each student and realize the level of impact we can have on their lives. This is a very good point for us all to consider.

Perhaps you just haven't been able to identify their motivating factor. I had a student drop this term and I believe if I had made a bigger effort to help her make friends in the class, she would have stayed. I am going to make a bigger effort with my shy students in the future.

Motivation is very important to both learning and retention .Motivation is something that must be considered during each class.

I agree. The motivation must come from the instructor.

Hi Mike,
Good tie between what is going on inside the classroom and their outside interests. They see application and relevancy to what they are learning.

In my field, math and formulas are always used. But if we can show them different ways to build theoretic engines or compounded ratios to achieve more oomph for daddy's dirt track car, it all starts to become fun.

All students in our settings are motivated or they wouldn't be setting in our classes. Find out what motivated them to enroll in the fist place. This does require talking with the student and finding out what has changed. You don't have to agree with the student just because you talked with them. This should give you an idea if the situation can be salvaged and what method or methods you may have to employ.

I think that motivation is the instructors responsibility. the teacher needs to find reasons that makes sence to the student that will keep him/her want to be involved and consequently stay focused on the subject at hand.
