Real life experiances and stories to back them up is a great aid to students and letting them know we are not perfect.

I agree,we need to let them know we are real people as well.

You are right about not having all of the answers but be willing to find them. As an educator you should always be in search for new knowledge. That new knowledge can result from the research you do to respond to a question asked by a student. This is what professional growth is all about.

I believe that being a good instructor isnt about having all the answers, it's about knowing how to find the answers. If faced with a question I didn't have the answer to, I would offer to help research the answer together. This also lets them know that it's ok to not have all the answers as long as you practice good problem solving.

Good point. The key is to admit mistakes when they are made, use humor to keep the class engaged and always make progress with the learning of students and you will be fine.

I absolutely agree that students should know that we are not perfect, but we should also be cautious about how much of our imperfections that we relay to them might not affect us adversely in the long run.
